The role of of the Board of Management is to manage the organisation within the approved budget and in accordance with Community Options Illawarra Inc stated objectives, policies and procedures as specified in this Policy and Practice Manual.
The Community Options Illawarra Inc Board of Management must make sure at all times that it is fulfilling its role and responsibilities.
The responsibilities of the Board of Management are:
Legal Responsibilities
Make sure that:

Community Options Illawarra Inc operates in line with
- The Constitution
- The Associations Incorporation Act 1984 No. 143
- Funding Agreements.

Staff employment agreements are complied with, that proper tax is deducted, and safe working conditions provided
-
Community Options Illawarra Inc has adequate insurance cover
-
The service operates within the relevant Federal, State and Local Government laws and regulations.
Leadership, Policy and Planning
Make sure that:

Community Options Illawarra Inc has clear goals
-
Plans are developed and evaluated on an annual basis
-
High quality and effective services are delivered to care recipients and/ or carers
-
The Policy and Practice Manual is kept up-to-date and is put into practice.
Financial
Make sure that:

Community Options Illawarra Inc has an approved budget for the year, and that expenditure is within the budget
-
Community Options Illawarra Inc has sufficient income to meet the budget requirements
-
The conditions of the Funding Agreements are followed
-
Funds are properly accounted for and an audit is completed every year.
Staff
-
Ensure the recruitment of the best possible staff.
-
Ensure the staff have appropriate support, direction and supervision.
Risk Management
Maintains a strong organisation

To deal with service issues and problems as they arise and to provide the necessary support and assistance.

To make sure that Community Options Illawarra Inc has a strong membership, strong community support and is a strong and viable organisation.

To ensure the organisation meets its commitments and outcomes, and its programs are well resourced
Provides links outside the organisation
-
Represents the organisation and communicates a positive message
-
Advocates on behalf of the organisation to funders, government and others
-
Represents the community within the organisation
-
Does fund raising and promotion where required
Association Membership
By submitting the form below, you hereby apply to become a member of Community Options Ilawarra Incorporated (incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 2010).
In the event of your admission as a member, you agree to be bound by the constitution of the association for the time being in force.
